A different approach to a Joe Satriani classic with a more stripped down tone. Ricardo was looking to honour the original track as well as add some of his own moves into the playing, passion and solo. In homage to his favourite guitarist of all time, and a real showcase of his guitar soul and skill, Ricardo would like to present “Love Thing”. Download
“LOSING GRIP / ROOT DOWN”
A manic and unique mix of Avril Lavigne’s “Losing Grip” and The Beastie Boys “Root Down”, this mashed up track was recorded from scratch by Ricardo. With lyrics ripped from the Beastie’s track. No lame DJ loops here, this baby was recorded from bottom up; guitars, bass, drum programming and effects all by Ricardo Lacombe. Oh, and a bit of Linkin Park thrown in for good measure! Enjoy! “A JESTER’S TALE” – Theme Music
Created in pre-production to set the tone of the movie to follow Ricardo Lacombe composed this haunting and off-kilter piano and strings based theme. This track really helped showcase Ricardo’s movie score initiation and also to set a much darker tone to the film, assisting the images to work on different levels. Instantly recogniseable to fans of the film. Download
“A JESTER’S TALE” – End Theme
Ricardo considers this piece to be his most unique, challenging and expressive piece of music in the film. The end scene went through various musical and dialogue alterations before settling on this piece of music to really take what was previously hilarity into sadness, tragedy and heartfelt despair. Many viewers comment on the final scenes juxtaposition of comedy and sadness, and this piece of music was instrumental in that effect. Download
STEVE VAI BACKING TEST
While teaching a student to emulate the style of the guitarist Steve Vai, Ricardo recorded this demonstration piece to better give a feel for the style and to highlight Vai-style techniques and effects. A cool little demo piece and one that shows Ricardo’s ability to hold his own style while also effectively mimicking certain aspects of others for teaching purposes.
